Didi Lehnhausen is a visual artist born in 1993 (NL), currently based in Italy, with past residencies and exhibitions across Europe and Indonesia. Her practice weaves photographic and painterly processes into installations, occasionally expanding into performance and film. Influenced by her neurodiversity and Dutch-Indonesian heritage, Lehnhausen navigates the boundaries of traditional mediums such as batik, darkroom printing, and oil painting, reshaping them into her own methods. Her layered compositions, often marked by intentional disruptions, reveal both the vulnerability and persistence of form, allowing her works to reflect a deep, embodied engagement with material and history.
Lehnhausen has presented solo exhibitions at venues such as Nieuw Dakota, Project Space PLAN B, and Temple in Amsterdam, as well as Ruang MES 56 in Yogyakarta. Her work has appeared in group exhibitions a the Neu/NOW festival at Art Basel, at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, and internationally at Urbane Kunst Ruhr (Germany), BIG ART (Netherlands), Art Rotterdam (Netherlands), Lumen Travo Gallery (Netherlands), Studio Kura (Japan), and Studio Omstand (Netherlands). Her work has garnered support through the Mondriaan Fund’s Young Talent Fellowship and several projects were funded by the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK), from who she most recently received a one-year stipend .
