ELEVEN SPELLS (2020)
Installation of eleven batik pieces in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, exploring the idea of batik holding prayers, dreams, and symbols of status for the wearer. Each piece begins with a delicate white line drawing made in the first layer of wax. As the dyeing, washing, waxing, and layering process repeats, the drawings mostly disappear into the colors and shapes.
